Ki-Ki's Got A New House

Hello.  It is a decent March day in the Midwest.  I am speaking from our new house that we moved into last Oct. 31, 2014. Mom and Dad outdid themselves this time. A 63-year old house they totally renovated. One floor and a basement.  I can still go 'sploring though. The basement is real neat, and practically empty. They got rid of a lot of things before they moved.  We only moved about 2 blocks.  But we are in our own house with our own yard and many, many trees.

The house has all these registers in the walls, and Mom put my bed right under one.  It is so toasty warm for me.  I am so lucky.  Mom got some catnip spray  she puts on this thing I can scratch my back on.  They act so silly when I'm all stirred up using that thing.  What's the BIG DEAL? Can't they amuse themselves some other way????
The house has hardwood floors, which is pretty cool, 'cause when I upchuck, it's easy to clean up.  I am really happy here.  The picture of me was taken at the old apartment.  Mom just loves to catch me on film.  I'm pretty photogenic....don't you think?  I am a happy kitty. Dad has talked about getting a pal for me to keep me busy.  So, I've been gettin' out those resumes so Dad will think I'm earning my keep!!!   Catch ya later.  Ki-Ki

Hello from the Ki-Ki Meister

Ok. Ok. I know. I haven't written much in awhile. But I have been so busy EATING and SLEEPING and BATHING, and REPEATING THAT SEQUENCE. Oh yeah, and I ALLOW DAD TO BRUSH ME, and I watch movies with them. I like to watch the French films with Dad. cive vous ple??? (or something like that). I am still a 2-people cat. Mom, Dad are my only two people I allow myself to be around. It took so long to train them to my needs and likes! Sheesh! Aren't I purty sitting under last year's Christmas tree?

Hey, I have a new trick. I yowl until Mom or Dad lets me go out on the patio. Man, it's a JUNGLE out there!!!!! I am in the wild, hunting untamed prey. I creep through the grass, steathily sizing up my next victim, crouching....waiting....waiting....they're gonna get it. Wait, gotta lick that hind leg. Oooops. They got away!

Mom, can I go back inside to catch another nap before dinner-time? Maybe I'll catch that giselle the next time around. And by the way, can you fix that salmon steak that I love so much? I love you, Mom,....yes you can scratch me on the neck...okay, that's enough.

I'm so glad you got to see me this afternoon.... 'til next time. Ki-Ki

Hello from Ki-Ki

Hi Everyone ! I haven't posted for awhile....there is so much to tell. Dad is certainly taking care of me a lot more than he used to. He brushes me. I fuss but I really like it when he does. I sit between him and Mom when they watch a movie at home on the sofa. I feel so safe and secure with them. They both pet me a lot. They are still monitoring my food intake: 7am, 11am, 4:30pm, 8:30pm. Oh, and I fweep from 11am-4:30pm USUALLY. Life is good. They still bathe me in the bathtub every 8 weeks, and I bit Mom real bad the last time. Got her good. She didn't even yell at me. But she bled all in my bath water. Yuck!! Oh well, I will be better about writing. Signing off, Ki-Ki

It Certainly Is Fall in Indiana Yay!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone. Mom caught me with the camera again. And I was fweepin! Hey, hows about them Colts? Doing great this season. So are the Steelers (I guess). It is cold in this house. "They" haven't turned the boilers on yet. Hey ! Now wait a minute! I went to the vet's for the 2nd time since I've lived here. I thought I was homeless! I was in a cardboard box for about 1.5 hours! It was awful. Mom put my muzzle on. I got 2 shots. I was a good kitty. I kept to myself the rest of the day. I thought Mom was punishing me by taking me there. But then I curled up onthe armchair with her, and she let me sleep next to her. After being unseasonably hot this past weekend, it is now a lot cooler. I thought this pix of me was awfully p-u-r-r-r-r-t-y. Don't you? Hey, if you want to get a neat pet like me...adopt from a shelter. Too many of my kind are being killed because of over-population. Thanks. Ki-Ki (signing out)

It's September at Ki-Ki's House

Howdy! Well, I really gave Mom and Dad a good laugh last week. Mom had left a package of cookies in a plastic bag at the bottom of the steps to take to her car Wed. morning. Well, I dragged it into the kitchen (over night). Dad heard a noise downstairs in the middle of the night....but did he investigate? Nope. He just thought, "you (any burglars) all can have anything you want - just don't mess up The Doog's Hair". While he was ruminating about his long, golden locks, I was opening that package of cookies! They were soft sugar cookies with a raspberry flavored icing on them. And they were good! Dad wondered why I wasn't hungry at 6:45am when he got up, and racing down the stairs in front of him. Mom saw the colored sprinkles on the kitchen floor and just thought that Dad got messy eating the cookies. After they put 2 and 2 together and figured out what happened - NO MORE FOOD LEFT DOWN IN THE KI-KI-MEISTER'S REACH !!!! Ahhhh - but what a sugar high I had that day! Am I good or what???

Komments from Ki-Ki

Hello. I realize that I haven't posted in awhile. We're kinda just takin' it easy around here. Just appreciating all that is good in my file. Oh, I got a new bed! I've grown a little bit, and Mom saw that the 1st bed was stunting my growth. I couldn't stretch out in it. Mom has decided to not go for her certification in her Pharmacy Technician job as of yet. Mom and Dad have been to the Biergarten at the Rathskellar where they listen to bands outside under the stars (and heat and humidity) in the summertime. We're getting ready to sign our 4th lease at the apartments where we are residing. Dad's only granddaughter just celebrated her 1st birthday a couple of weeks ago, and there was a party in her honor. It was lots of fun. And Uncle John's stepson, Nathan, graduated from high school last month, though Mom and Dad could not attend. I wish I had some really great, exciting news to report, but I just don't have any. So --- my new bed beckons me for a nap. Signing out, Ki-Ki

Hello from Ki-Ki

Hi ! You caught me fweepin' again! Just wanted to say that the world was treating me just fine. Mom and Dad still treat me like a Queen - - It is Springtime in Indianapolis, and the weather is wet & dry, hot & cold. Yes, it is definitely Indianapolis weather. I wish I had some interesting things to talk about -- oh! With the windows open, I see and can almost taste the chipmunks on the patio and in front of our townhouse. Got to check out those little BBQ grills on sale at Meijer's - to skewer me some fresh chipmunk, and savor them after marinating and grilling. Ah, the smells of Spring. Just thinking about all of this glorious fun makes me tired, and I need to catch up on my fweep. I have a lot of things planned in the weeks to coming. Licking my chops, but signing out. Ki-Ki

Feb-b-r-r-r-uary Comments from Ki-Ki

Hi Everyone. Here in Indiana we have had snow and ice dumped on us about 3 times now. My "fiefdom" (which is outside our patio glass doors) is under a mound of white stuff. No chipmunks. No birds. No squirrels. Thank goodness that the weather has not interrupted my routine. Eat, sleep, annoy Mom and Dad, cuddle with Mom, beg Dad for treats. And of course, my "every half-hour bathes". Yes, Life is good. I hope everyone is having a great post- Superbowl and post-Valentine's weeks. Signing off, Ki-Ki

The Indianapolis Colts Win the Superbowl !!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY RAH, COLTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! In case you haven't heard the news, my team won the Superbowl about an hour ago! I was cheering them on with Gran-Dan and Grama Chris and Mom. Sure was a good game! But, alas! I need a nap now. This city is kinda crazy right now. And there are some upset Bears fans too. Tsk! Tsk ! What's all the fuss? Party down, Dudes. Signing out, Ki-Ki (Colts Fan)

Ki-Ki's Lament

Hi. It is Ki-Ki. The picture that you are viewing on the left is a vague memory of the beef stew and other delights in the way of "wet food" that I used to receive once a day. Mind you, it was only 1/4 of a can each day, but my vet said "only on special occasions". Otherwise, it's 3 coffee-scoops a day of the dry food. I ask him to define "special occasions". I think the playoff game of the Patriots and the Colts is a special occasion, don't you? If not that, today is the first real snow we have had since the winter of 2005-06. And it's a lot of snow in Indianapolis. Sounds like we need to celebrate with a feast. All in favor of Ki-Ki getting her "treat meal" today ... please let me know ! I'm starving !

Ki-Ki's Got a New Bed

Yep, my folks are great !!!! I got a new bed this week. It took me a day to actually get in it (I didn't know what the thing was for! ) But now ---- what a treat ! I guess I'll unpack my bags, which have been packed ever since Mom and the vet restricted my food intake. I guess I'll stay here for a bit. 'Scuse me while I fweep (that's "sleep" to humans). Z-z-z-z-z, Ki-Ki

Monday Morning

Hi Everyone ! It's a grey Monday morning in Indianapolis, IN but I'm doing g-r-r-r-r-r-e-a-t !!!! Mom put me on a diet because the vet said I needed to eat 3 really small meals a day, and not use my self-feeder. Major BUMMER! I am hungry a lot. Mom gives me Pounce treats to help me from meal to meal. I even sampled the house-plants, thinking they would be a good thing to eat. The great Ki-Ki-Meister was wrong. Not good. But edible. It's business as usual around here. Mom is working 3 part-time jobs, and Dad is still at the State of Indiana. They cater to me all the time. I have them trained. Life is good here. I hope that all of your animal-lovers out there are hugging, loving and spoiling your pets today. Signing off, Ki-Ki
P.S. Mom made a small webpage as a tribute in memoriam to her father who died last November. The page is www.alawebpages.com/celebrations/jba

Merry Christmas from the Ki-Ki Meister

Hi, and Merry Christmas !!!!! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful a Christmas it was! So much going on. Since my last post, my Mom had started a new part-time job at a vet's. She helps with surgeries and clinic days. (Mondays and Wednesdays). She loves this work. It is the vet where I go too. She also started a job at Walgreen's (1 mile from our house) as a Pharmacy Technician. Wow ! Now that is something she is really enjoying. She gets her certification in March 2007, if she passes a test. Then she can be a pharmacy tech in any state, if she wants. Something I forgot to mention on my last post. My Mom's father died on Nov. 17th, and we were all in such shock that I just didn't mention it the last time. The funeral was Dec. 2nd, and then she started her new job at Walgreen's on Dec. 13th. Then all the Christmas hoopla. I got a mouse in my stocking that is laced with catnip! Makes me c-r-a-z-y !!!!! Gee, I am sure looking forward to when things will return to normal around here. They have been kinda crazy but not too hectic to interfere with my naps. 'Scuse me...I am overdue for one now. Signing off, Ki-Ki

Yum! Turkey Day is coming !!!

Hi everyone. It's the KiKi-Meister here. It was about time for me to give you an update on my doings. Everything is just great. I am having some really exciting times watching the leaves fall and the chipmunks scurrying on the patio. (rocks my world). If I could just grab one! Activites have picked up around here getting ready for the holidays. Buying for 2 grandkids now. I haven't met them though. Mom and I battle for the alpha position here. She knows I am boss, but she is still bigger than me and has the veto power. Oh well. She has 2 legs, but I have 4. Who's faster ? You guessed it. I outrun her but she traps me in a small area. I bit her to assert myself once. You know what? She did not hit or bite me back ! She gave me a treat! Now that is some kind of Mom, isn't it? I love my Mom. And, I snuggle with Dad sometimes. That's new. Gives him a charge. Signing off, Ki-Ki

3 weeks in my new home !

Hello ! I have had 3 weeks in my new home. I am happy as a lark. My parents are talking to me a lot, and I am warming up to them. I am scared of anyone outside the home, and prefer to hide under the bedspread if I detect strangers in the house. And do I love the catnip that Mom brings home to me. That stuff is great - for sure !! I want to thank Catherine P. for sending a website to my mom that had a pix of me at Second Chance Rescue on it. Mom fell in love with me, and begged Dad to let her go get me. The rest is history. I am grateful for the rescue. Cats don't usually get adopted like dogs do. I am a very very lucky young cat. Yep! I have an attitude, and YEP ! I intend to keep it. Thank you thank you thank you Mummy and Daddy for such a great home ! Signed, your kid, Ki-Ki

Howdy (from Ki-Ki)

Hi Everyone. Well, I have adopted these people and lived with them for almost 3 weeks. I think they are going to work out just GREAT !!!!! I almost have them trained. I let them know when I am hungry ( for the good stuff wet cat food yay !!!!!!), when I want them to hang around me, when I want my space - you know, stuff like that. I have become more affectionate ( I thought that I would give them a break. They were trying so hard !!!) Mom is always either brushing me, cleaning my ears, giving me Laxatone for hairballs. I just LOVE THAT STUFF !!!! I sit with them in my own chair and watch a rented movie with them in the evenings. I'm not real big on playing with toys on a pole, but I love catnip mice. Yawn. Such is life. Oooops! time for my mid-morning nap. I've charmed them long enough with my purring this morning. Ciao!

I've been to the vet - yuck!

Good morning Everyone. Well, Amy took me to the vet on Wednesday 10/4 and I got all my shots again (when I only needed Feline Leukemia shot). But the vet was good, and I didn't even know he was doing it ! We when to Keystone Pet Hospital. They have a shot clinic on Wednesdays. I am doing fine. Had a run-in with Dad last night. I don't like the metal pet comb, and I guess he got on the wrong end of me, the end with my teeth. Sorry, Dad, the cat rules here. Mom said she might get a muzzle for things like brushing and ear cleaning. Brother, get a clue guys !!!! But, I got over it, and skin heals.

2nd Post and a Pix of Ashling, now known as Ki-Ki

Hi. I am the new cat in the house. I USED to be called Ashling, but NOW I am called Ki-Ki (kee-kee). Ashling was just too hard to say, and I didn't answer to it anyway. So they renamed me last night. Here is the 1st picture taken of me. I am the 3rd Tortie owned by my female human, Amy - and there are rumors that I resemble a short-haired version of Punkin, (her 2nd Tortie/Maine Coon) now deceased. I am giving my humans, Amy and Doug, some anxiety. I am pretty reclusive. And nocturnal, which is normal for cats. Amy got me a self-waterer and a self-feeder. Wow, the wet food she gives me a little taste of each day is great, and I have a special bowl for it that has little fishes all over it. But, she places my food and water on a mat that has all puppies on it ! Go figure. If you want to see where I came from - just click on the link to the right that says "Adopt A Pet". I am very happy here. And I am glad I have my very own blog. Just call me "Techno-Cat".
